I first meet Pat as he tutored me in amateur radio. Pat would always find a way to bring up environmental issues during each lesson which got a lot of us students interested. As I lived quite near to Pat and Norma, his wife, beach bungalow in Hemsby I would often drop by for a cuppa and always interesting chat and come away with far more knowledge than I turned up with. RIP Pat G3IOR a true people’s champ sadly missed.

I first came across Pat Gown as a member of the North Sea Action Group which he started many years ago, and although I never met him I was so sad to hear he had passed away.
His knowledge and understanding of, not only the pollution issues, but also his understanding of having to deal with the authorities, were always inspirational to me.
Pat was my John Wayne, taking time even when he was extremely busy to give encouragement to continue, I can only thank him for all his help and say he will never be forgotten.

Although I never knew Patrick Gowen, I wish to place on record the thanks of Torfaen Friends of the Earth for a life dedicated to protecting our environment. We all need someone to champion and inspire us in these difficult times and he was such a person. May he rest in peace

Pat was someone who kept my trust in mankind alive. When all these trolls and distributors of fake news started their climate change denial crusades, Pat was the one who spoke the truth about the threat of climate change. He even used his scientific insight to warn us here in the East of England about storm surges and high tides.
I am very grateful to him and he will never be forgotten.
