Even more East Coast Dredging threatened!

Hot on the heels of issuing a licence for further dredging off the East Coast, the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) have just advised MARINET of a further application, this time for Lafarge Tarmac Marine to take 7,500,000 of sand and shingle from Area 296 and a further 7,500,000 from Area 494 over the next 15 years.

Area 494 consists of a 4.8 square mile area and Area 296 4.1 square miles, both situated just 8 miles offshore to Great Yarmouth.

Although our protests invariably fall on silent ears, it is hoped that members will oppose this new application. An election is forthcoming so our
political representatives may well voice support for our rapidly disappearing coastline. Here follows the notice:
