Marinet asks: Is Parliament holding the Minister to account over MCZs?

On 2nd April 2014 the Environmental Audit Committee of the House of Commons held a session at which it questioned the Defra Minister, George Eustice MP, and the Ministry’s scientific advisor, Sir Ian Boyd, about the delivery of Marine Conservations Zones (MCZsMCZ Marine Conservation Zone).

Marinet attended this public hearing, and concluded that the Minister had “an easy ride”. The Committee missed a number of key issues relating to the delivery of MCZs, and Marinet has therefore written to the Committee to ask whether supplementary questions can be submitted in writing to the Minister.

A copy of the Marinet letter to the Committee can be seen here.
