David Levy – At Long Last – March 2023

Whilst representing Marinet I have met and discussed marine issues with an amazing number of people – from Ministers of State for Fisheries, to scientists whilst sitting and working within OSPAROSPAR Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North-East Atlantic made up of representatives of the Governments of the 15 signatory nations., in NGOs of many traditions and specialties, and amongst marine industries and their representatives and many, many others.

It is rare that you meet someone who inspires and who can look to the future with a plan of action that is based on reality, and not a whim or an idealistic motivation.   River Action’s James Wallace is such a person and I am in awe of his abilities.   Given the right backing he is able to propose the solutions and deliver the policies that will demand change in Government and within the water industry for healthy rivers for the coming decade and beyond.

I propose that Marinet supports this man and where possible dovetail our efforts.

Marinet still believes the only way real change will take place for stopping pollution of the River Wye is to have a no-nonsense conference with all interested parties convened around the solution table.   That means the farmers, the fertilizer industry, industrial farming unit managers, DEFRA and the EA, Transport Hubs, River Authorities, NGO s, Local Authority Representatives, Academia ( Universities of Cardiff and Exeter), and a forum for this debate which has been offered by the Salisbury/Devizes Diocese.

River Action welcome our strategy and have promised their full support if we can move things along.

Watch this space.
