David Levy – New Year 2026 – Jan 2026

The Global Political Map is unsure, and bordering on the insane.

Wherever you look mankind is in conflict, all backed by corporate greed for never ending growth. That is a fallacy if ever there was one. The implications for the environment’s future are the grimmest they have been for decades. For those who promote the expansion of fossil fuels as in “drill, drill, drill”, it is clear that they take sides with others doing the same thing.

That means Russia, America and China are all singing from the same hymn sheet.

These power blocks are oblivious to the needs of their neighbours. It has led to a ratcheting up of tensions around the world, making conflict ever present, despite what the American President says on social media. More conflict leads to greater gain.

Therefore, it is understandable that we have all become more insular and focused on home and family.

Can we reverse this, and include in our concern aspects of environmental mismanagement?

I have come to the conclusion, years ago, that all governments want to frustrate the individual. The “consultation” they offer us is an abuse of the word, and whenever an avenue opens up for change the bureaucracy slams it shut.

Optimistic campaigning” is another such smoke and mirrors trick, purporting to be doing something yet, in reality, it is aiming to raise money for maintaining the status quo, mostly without achieving anything of substance. Most of the UK’s NGOs fall into that bracket.

Where are the solutions, and the yardsticks to measure them?

Few work to this agenda. Marinet will continue to plough this ‘lone furrow’ of solutions and yardsticks to measure whether they work, despite how hard it is and without any solid support from other so-called environmentalists. We will do so because it is right, and should be the future for us all.

I wish all Marinet Members and our friends a stress-free year with good health and a target to focus on.
