David Levy – Real Reform at this Election – Jul 24
As I write this blog I am aware that counting from 1st July there is, in four days, an election in the UK.
Marinet is non-party political. Yet everything we try to do is countered by politicians and, more importantly, by the mandarins of the Civil Service. Yes that’s right, the Ministries of Government.
For me this is a good time to take stock of all the failings within Government and to ponder why we are stuck in a rut of party politics; and, to be frank, a fraudulent propping up of society.
For generations we have been governed by a system of politics which has disengaged with the people.
The people for their part have settled for mass produced food, enough money to have a life style devoid of joint adventure, rancid television and popular media platforms, and a welfare provision that tries to help everyone but fails in the immensity of the task.
Time you would have thought for alternative politics, alternative governance, and a conversation with those who should be involved in their future.
The Reform Party has been funded by those who want change, but can faded politicians be the voice for the future? I am sure they will get a protest vote. However where is the real party for the future? As the Methodist Church once did, this new party needs to be create itself — and the sooner the better.
Finances are critical. £5000 for every seat contested that’s £3.25 million.
Where will that come from?
Once you have an agenda, you can plan strategies.
To commence the discussion . . . .
Currently for every front line worker in the NHS, there are 4-6 administrative staff. That imbalance has to change. That means:
• Cut down on the bureaucracy in favour of hiring front line staff.
• Evaluate which parts of the bureaucracy that has been introduced is unnecessary.
• Hire from abroad, until such a time you can train staff. Many of the foreign staff have been trained to be fully rounded in their skills. They have to — because they can’t afford the waste that we have in the NHS.
• Use the power of bulk purchasing to get the best deal from the pharmaceutical companies. Be less wasteful of drugs, and learn from our European neighbours on aspects of hospital management.
Now, over to you. The platform is vacant and is yours. It just takes a desire from people to populate it, and the ‘station’ is home to endless platforms.
Like the Methodist leader, John Wesley, all it takes is a desire to lead and to organise, and the will of the people to make it a movement. Or, let’s say: a new political force.
