David Levy – The Unwritten Malaise – Dec 22
The problems facing the world are huge.
Who would ever have thought a country signed up to the United Nations could have invaded another’s sovereign territory with scarcely a concern about what they were doing or how this would create an unstable world? It is a fact that this action by Russia has set back peace and mutual respect for decades.
As for the people of Ukraine and their relationship with this aggressor, I doubt whether generations to come will ever forgive them.
Our problems in this country seem to be so insignificant when comparing ourselves to this situation, but even here we have a major problem juggling all the balls in the air whilst following the recommendations of our Ministries.
Viewed by an outsider, it looks as though everything may collapse. If that does happen, it will just like a house of cards.
Marinet has tried to venture into the world of solutions because we are currently in the ‘time of consequences’. As an example, look at the death throes of our river network which is being polluted by human sewage and agricultural wastes. Both situations could have been avoidable.
Human waste should have been kept separate from rainwater drainage, but today Councils are still granting permissions for joint-disposal of rainwater and foul water. Consequently, the reality is our sewerage systems cannot cope.
As Marinet explains in Why are we killing the River Wye, and when will it stop? DEFRA tells the poultry farmers to spread animal waste on the land. This then runs-off into our rivers, causing major pollution.
There are solutions, but our politicians are not interested in them. They will not rock the boat of the Civil Service and we, the public, have no representation of any merit in either of the Houses of Parliament.
Is it any wonder why some people have given up on them, and take to the streets or highways to rattle the cages of indifference?
